ORIGIN AND ACTIVITIES OF MSF
The Madras Science Foundation (MSF) was registered under the Society’s Act of Tamil Nadu (Registration No.243 of 1981) on the 7th of September 1981 with the following objectives.
(i) Promotion of science including its practical application to problems of national welfare
(ii) Maintaining an institute or institutes for scientific research
(iii) Establishing a science library
(iv) Disseminating knowledge of pure and applied science by means of lectures, publications, demonstrations, exhibitions, etc.
(v) Taking such other steps as may appear to the foundation to be necessary and found desirable for the furtherance of research in Science and Technology
Established in 1981, the MSF is known for its unique scientific organizational status with the association of elite luminaries such as the ‘Father of India’s Green Revolution’ Mr.C.Subramaniam, and Drs.Y.Nayudamma, V.V.Ramanujam, B.Ramamurthi, C.R.Krishnamurthi, N.Parthasarathy, T.V.Desikachary, T.R.Govindachary, T.S.Sadasivan, T.N.Ananthakrishnan and many others. Dr.M.S.Swaminathan is continuing as the Patron of the Foundation.
